WNC Football Tournament

Full in-depth analysis of the upcoming Football Tournament will be posted here soon.
The Matches start on June 6th.
I'm hoping that the referees dont possess similar qualities like the WNC Cricket Umpires.

Or what if the same umpires turn up as referees?

I hope not.

WNC Tournament : NCS Clash - II

This time...we had done our Paper-work much before hand.
And our Results gave such surprising results of what probably even happened in the first game.
This is Match 2 Analysis.

May 26 2005
NCS v/s KV-III

It all starts with the umpire blaming us for starting the match 15 minutes late. We all felt like reminding him about his record-breaking 4 hours "LATE" in the previous match...but we gave him some respect and decided to move on.

The Game Starts. NCS Wins the Toss and Elect to Bowl First.

I bowl the first over. On the 2nd ball The Opening Batsman of KV3 hits the ball right on my foot causing it to swell severly. I was cursing the batsman because I could not play the entire match but later on I thanked him. (Oh yea...I still completed my over and then left the field)
I thanked him because, I was sitting with the score-keepers and was constantly interacting with the umpires and I learnt their tricks and trades of the game. Here's an excerpt:

  • Umpires didnt allow celebration after a wicket was taken.
  • They said that we were denied to speak to our team members on field during the course of the game.
  • A KV batsman was plum LBW...Decision given...None.
  • It seemed that they were siding KV while making it too obvious...while KV played their natural and fair game. [ So dont blame KV ]
KV's Score 69 out of 90 balls...Easily Chasable. But here's the twist in the tale.

NCS Batting Innings
TARGET : 70

First Over. Sourabh Jugal goes down the track to hit the ball. Ball instead hits his pad and the Umpire gives him out L.B.W.
Here's how the rest of the Wickets fell:
  • Prem : Ball Hits the bat, then the thigh. UMPIRE : "L.B.W : Out."
  • Pawan : Goes front-foot for a straight-drive, ball hits the pads (pawan was way away from the wicket). UMPIRE : "LBW : Out."
  • Prateek Thapa: Ball hits Shoulder and goes to Fielder. UMPIRE : "Caught. Out". (Check the Cricket Rules my dear Friend...)
  • Siddharth : Comes down the track, ball gets an edge of the bat and just falls to the ground. UMPIRE : "LBW : Out"
A total of 6 NCS Batsmen got out like this...Is this a Coincidence or is it intentional? Do the umpires think that LBW stands for "Leg Before Wicket" and not "Leg Before WicketKeeper"?

One over lasts 4 balls. We alert the Umpire. Reply:"Theek hai...agle over 8 ball ke kara lenge...koi baat nahi." This repeats thrice.

When prateek is taking his stance before batting the umpire interrupts:" Kya kar raha hai too. Vaise bhi too sift do minute ka mehmaan hai."

Umpire during the game on being asked whether the current over was Over 7: "To Aur Kya??"

Umpire's reply to NCS players when our School teachers brought to his notice about the incorrect decisions:"Apne teachers ko bolo ki yahaan aake umpiring karo."
Excuse me, it's not their job. Their job is to teach, and they do it the way it's supposed to be done.

The Umpires were so stubborn that they made our Teachers keep score in both the matches when they are actually supposed to spend time motivating the team.

Even after all this, we reach 64. Then once again the LBW story repeats and NCS is all-out for 64.

Trust me, I seriously don't know how I controlled my anger on field. The Teachers and I decided to file a written complaint against the Umpires for their harsh behaviour and incorrect decisions and they asked me to find out their names.

After the match I go and shake hands with them.
Me : "Nice Game Sir..."
Umpire : "Hmm...Pehle Cricket Seekho, Phir Comment Maro."
Me : "Sir, may I know your name please?"
Umpire : "Why do you want to know?"
Me : "Why not?"
Umpire : "..."
Me : "Isn't it my right to know?"
Umpire : [gives me a dirty look]
Me : [I cant take it longer...I take off my glares in a way how my friends called it the "Tom Cruise Style" and said]
Me : Excuse Me...Are you doubting my intentions??? Because if you are then the tournament is seriously in a very sad condition. Is that what you are trying to convey? Be frank. I hate being blamed when I'm not wrong and I...
Umpire : Sachin and Ajay....[They depart as fast as they can.]

The teachers vow to file a written Complaint against these umpires and I hope they do so. Obviously the Principal will be furious after knowing about our loss...and I sincerely hope that she reads this post. Nevertheless, I shall tell her anyway the next time I meet her.

And this one for WNC

How can you let them get away with it? Is it right to be rude to the players and teachers, give wrong decisions intentionally, call all of us illeterate and just walk off the field?
Respected Officers of Western Naval Command, Mumbai, for you all this is just a Game. But little do you realise that such people are spoiling the image of the elite Western Naval Command. And it seems as if they're getting away with it. And we're the one paying the price for doing something right.

I REST MY CASE.

WNC Tournament : NCS Clash - I

Too Bad I can't devote so much time to describe each and every detail of the Cricket matches of the WNC tournament...I'll still try to describe everything that happened in the best possible way.

MATCH - 1
24 May 2005
NCS v/s K.V - 1

We were supposed to report at Kohli stadium at 0730 hrs and the entire NCS team was punctual on that day. The WNC Tournament representatives arrive on the School Grounds an hour later after testing our patience and this is how the intial conversation went:

Representative : "Itne saare log yahaan kyoon aaye hai? Summer Camp ke to nahi Lagte..."
Just then a KV Student tells him about the match.
Representative : "Accha...Match Aaj Hai??? Hame to kisine bataya hi nahi....Hum abhi aate hain."
He comes back 15 minutes later: "Pehla Match NCS v/s K.V 1"

And yes...Our Principal had visited Kohli Stadium at around 8 am and was surprised how the representatives hadn't arrived. Thanks to her those people at least came on the ground.

Finally at 11:00 am two umpires arrive...tell us to shift to Kohli Stadium and then here's how it goes.
{U - Umpire 1}

U - Aap ke vajah se hum sab late ho gaye...Isliye match sirf 15 overs ka hoga. Show me the Ball.

We give him our Season Ball. Then...

U - What??? Aap log leather ball se khelenge? Aap ko buri tarah se lag sakti hai. Chalo ek Cosco Ball le aao. Kise ke pass Helmet bhi nahi hai. [incidently, we had helmets]

{ An angry KV Student then brings a Hard Tennis Ball}

U - Nahi...Yeh bhi bahut hard hai. Theek hai..Hum ek kaam karte hain. 4 Steps Run-up restriction ke saath khelenge.

{ Everyone was shocked/surprised/angry...probably a hybrid}

Me : Sir...Agar mat or Pitch ki problem hai to hum match postpone kar sakten hai. But let us play the same properly.

U - Mein 21 Saalon se Cricket Khel raha hoon. Hum Dekh lenge.

And so the match begins.

KV Batted first...NCS bowled beautifully and we thought we put up a good fight. But then they revealed their score: 88!!! No Comments from the umpire...Why? Because a student from a neutral side (KV2...Name hidden to protect identity) was scoring for them and evidently wanted NCS to lose.

NCS bats then. Stupid decisions from the umpires took place like periodic events. Once an over...or perhaps even more.
Scores again were modified by the neutral KV2 score keeper and no-one seemed to have questioned him.
NCS beat 88 but thanks to the KV2 student...the umpires thought that we need 20 runs to win. 2 Overs later they tell us that we need 26 runs more.

What can we do? We give up. We can't file a written complaint because we didnt tally the score on paper. So according to rules, we had no evidence of being right.

What's worse...Our Principal thinks that we lost because of Over-confidence. I can't blame her because she doesn't know what happened "Behind the Scenes" and we decided to forget about it. Honestly...we were underconfident. We doubted our victory but we practised hard. And even though we won...we were denied our victory.

What we did promise is that the next match we'll tally each run scored and then prove our point if the umpires give us an opportunity.

That was the 1st Match...We lost even though we won against KV1 thanks to our hidden neutral so-called trust-worthy score keeper.**

**[
People say that that Mr.X couldn't bear the loss of KV2 when NCS had badly beaten them in the Basketball tournament. This seemed like his opportunity to take his revenge...

NCS BLOG STAYS

Nothing to worry guys...The Blog remains a blog...and remains alive. I don't know about the School Web-site status but all I know is that the blog is secure, the only change being that now teachers are notified of the blog's presence. It's again like the two sides of the coin, and I leave it for you to decide whether this is good or bad for the blog. I doubt teachers will interfere with the posting here...so it seems fine.

Coming up Next is the next and final set of School Pictures.**

** A lot of people think that all this comes under the STING operations category. Well, sting operations refer to capturing of private moments in one's life, while I just take snaps of teachers in school and I don't see anything wrong in doing that (ie. of course within limits..)
If I was taking snaps of teachers in their respective homes or elsewhere other than school, that is liable to be labelled as "invading privacy".

HOLiDAYS.....BUT IS IT PACK-UP TIME FOR THE BLOG??

I have absolutely no clue as to how this "unofficial blog" has reached within the boundaries of school administration.Today at school, teachers and the Principal were notified of its existence.I have no problems with that- it just increases our readership. As long as we were not hampered in our process of candid blogging, it was no big deal.

Now, it seems [from Sanchit's post below] that the Principal has taken the BLOG to be something totalllllly different -a SCHOOL SITE?? I saw the photograph of hers and other school achievemtns she presented to Sacnhit to be put on the blog.Firstly such open enthusiasm from her is something fishy and secondly this weird concept of making a school site...I don't know why...but it all seems very unplausible to me.

Since I myself am not involved in any of these processes, I cannot add much to the blog in the coming days. Moreover, HOLIDAYS FINALLY BEGIN for classes X, XI (lucky ones) and XII.And I'll be leaving town.So you guys must keep checking back for updates from Sanchit.

Until a steady decision is reached about the fate of the blog, this shall be my last post on NCS Mumbai Blog.

Happy Holidays, Keep Blogging and Do leave your reactions and suggestions.

TEJAS

Official NCS Site

Hmm...The last set of school Pictures shall be posted soon. I asked the Principal if I could take her snap as that would complete the collection. She agreed, and gave me a picture of hers in her office and gave me some more information about the school so that I could post that too.
I wanted to tell her all that follows from now on at that time itself but there are a few factors that are to be considered before the posting begins.
  • THE NCS Blog is UNOFFICIAL...and it's better that way according to it's content.
  • It's a Blog [ Web-log ]. It's not a Web-Site.
  • It will make the blog too serious and boring.
There are a lot more other factors but I've just stated the prominent ones.
There is a solution. I'll forward a letter to the principal (once school starts) about starting a School Web-site. If she agrees, then she sends it to the higher authorities who will hopefully give the green signal. Then, with the the School Funds we can buy a Domain and Host our School Site. The Administrative Team can be then setup and they can keep the site updated. Once that is done, newer features will be added to the site such as even checking results for students etc.

All I'm saying is that this blog should remain the way it is. The School Web-Site is a great idea but prior consent is needed from the higher authorities as the Domain Name Registration and Web Hosting is going to require some Investment.

So if all goes well...We might even have an OFFICIAL WEB-SITE OF OUR SCHOOL !!!
Just keep your fingers crossed...and hope for the best...

READ ALL & COMMENTARY

The BLOG page can hold a limited number of POSTS and as new ones are added, the old ones get archived. But if you're visiting for the first time, or looking for something in particular, do check out the ARCHIVES on the left. Some of our great pieces, which can't be afford to be missed...if you have/had/will anything to do with NCS!!

READ ALL....and we seriously need encouragement guyz!! Please, please, please do leave a comment, it helps us a lot.And it doesn't take much of your time.Do tell us what you feel.
WE DON'T EXPECT LONG WINDING COMMENTS....even a small "GOOD WORK" is great motivation.

DO, DO, DO COMMENT!!!

Coming...coming...coming.....WHEN???

THE SCHOOL MAGAZINE....I know many of you have not seen or heard a trace about it in ages. And many of you maybe wonndering whether our usually overtly-smart school has done away with it for this year (just like the School Tie!).
No, but yes, it has been delayed beyond deadlines and beyond expectations. And being in a student's shoes my, and I bet your, first reaction would be to comment on the incapacities of the School administration. But for this once, I will not take that course...because this time I was Student editor and member of the NAVIK-Editorial team.We really burned the midnight oil and put our soul, efforts and time into collecting articles, reading and editing all the entries, and even writing many pieces.Right from the alignment of sentences to the look of the cover, from writing the editorial to going to interview the SANKALP Principal....the list is endless. I can assure you that it is not an easy task and you must think twice before frivolously commenting on someone's efforts.

Then why this agonising wait? From what I know, it is the Printer/Publisher who has been delaying the process, bringing in proofs with errors and then our Principal and Chairman keep changing the look and content every second day to suit their tastes.A group of our teachers incluinge Mrs. Girija, Ms. Ruchi actually spent an entire day at the Printer's office, working with the incorrigibly hopeless fellow.

Latest on the release date is that you'll hopefully be greeted by NAVIKA when you get back from your holidays.

Till then, the wait goes on...

WNC Tournament

So far..I have absolutely no clue about the current status of the WNC Basketball Tournament right now...but what i do know is that our school Cricket Team is practising everyday for the upcoming WNC Cricket Tournament against KV as well.
Everyday, at least one player gets minor injuries ( swollen fingers, muscle pull, nose bleed , jaw bleed etc. ) but here's how we practise at Apollo Ground in NOFRA.
  • Bring them on...

  • Modern Technology....STUMP-VISION!!!

  • Where's the middle wicket? No Problem...Howzzat?

  • Some of our players in Jovial,Sad and Confused Moods.

  • We enjoy Talking more than playing....*kidding*

  • WATCH OUR REPLAY OF A BALL:

  • 1) Shashidhar takes his batting stance (while I take my photography stance).

  • 2) Getting ready to whack the ball for a package finish....

  • 3) Oh...What a Spectacular shot...Smashed away...but where...[see next picture]

  • 4) Excellent Accuracy on the previous ball when least required. Now thanks to shashidhar, we gotta dig the stumps back.

  • Me Keeping...while Prateek looks on...

We all hope that these efforts will translate into respectable results in the Tournament.
For those who can provide more information on such tournaments...please contact me or leave a comment.

Hidden Cam in School...

Hey,

If you are a regular Visitor to my
Blog ie. sanchitkarve.blogspot.com
you will know what my Candid Cam is. This
time however, instead of focussing on my close friends, I get some neat pics
from our School Itself...Including Something really special and difficult to
get.

I got the Camera to School and here's the stuff I captured today:

  • Meenakshi Ma'am Teaching us Physics

  • I was trying to Click Meenakshi Ma'am's face, but she turned towards me
immediately...and so the result of pressing "Capture" and moving my hand
    instantly below the desk.

  • Anuraag Maan after realising that I had a cam...while Naveen Chauhan just
    tries to Pass time.

  • Reshul and Lepaksi in Focus. [Doesn't the Notebook suggest an idea of how
    the Picture was clicked?] [That's right...Shows Pawan's Thumbs-Up Sign]

  • Priyanka Bakshi
  • [ My Mistake for thinking that this was taken during the break ]

  • Class XII-C...Hmm...

  • Our BIO and Physics Lab along with the Battery Eliminator and Ammeter.

  • Chemistry Period in XII-A. [Before Me being noticed]

  • Chemistry Period in XII-A. [After Being noticed by Radha Ma'am and Prateek
    Nagraj] ...*Oops...I got caught*

  • The Principal's and Coordinator's office along with the trophies present
    next to their offices.

  • You know these two right??? ;-)

  • Our School Entrance...It looks grand...Doesn't it? [only in the pic...lol]

Now the best part...Today I sit on the first bench (unlike always) right
under Radha Ma'am's nose...I then record her Chemistry Lecture perfectly in a
decent quality sound. For those who bunked today's Chemistry period, here are 3
Excerpts from our Organic Chemistry Period Today. Enjoy!!!

  1. PART-1

  2. PART-2

  3. PART-3

lol...Don't ask me how I got these pics...but it did sure require a lot of
patience and guts to do it.

A Lot more news to come up soon. Kee[ Visiting this blog regularly.

Quit Cribbing....

I dont believe in mud-slinging or petty quarreling. But I have a teensy-weensy point to make.

Sure- some proejcts are simpler, faster and easier to perform. But people sulking over the "2.5 hours" duration of their chai-patti project need to be well informed that certain other projects ("foaming capacity of soaps", "preparation of dyes from aniline and beta-napthol"...and worst of all TITRATION!!!) take much longer. Some projects have been tired repeatdly and students have managed only after 3-4 attempts. That is, staying back almost for 3 - 4 days for atlest two hours!!
The projects were RANDOMLY assigned by Radha ma'am- not that each one chose his own and poor chai-coffee people were left out.It was also not the case that Radha ma'am or any of the students had partial preference in matter of choice.
In short -QUIT CRIBBING GUYZ! If you can't GET WHAT YOU LIKE....learn to LIKE WHAT YOU GET!

Lastly, on note of Chloroform. It is excessively hyped thanks to Tv, Movies etc etc.It doesn't STUN you...the effect wears off quiet soon.So exclusive access to a certain faltu drug shouldn't be reason enough for much jealousy to other...right?

Tejas

Class XII Chemistry Projects...How Unfair...Wait..Did you say Chloroform?

Just click below to see Rohit's,Bhargav's and my Chem Project.
VIEW PROJECT
Woah...Do you know how much 100g of Tea Leaves is???
On asking Our Chem teacher we get even a bigger shock....Our experiment takes roughly 2.5 HOURS!!!!!!!! Now that's a real pain.
Some people like Tejas and Prachi have got Projects regarding Flowers used as Indicators which can be finished off in roughly 45 minutes flat.
I know it's unfair...but I guess it's gotta be done...*why us???*
But there's a good side too...Me,Rohit and Bhargav ONLY have access to Chloroform...Yup...it's the same chloroform that kidnappers and burglars use to make people faint. We even dared to sniff it. Trust me, it's got a sweet smell...but I'm sure that if we had done it once more...you could have seen us in Ashwini Hospital.
So Imagine...Unlimited Access to Chloroform...that is...until we finish our project of-course....
*Sanchit*

Is it true??? Sadly....YES.

Yes my friends, as far as rumours go about Viji Ma'am's Mother...Radha Ma'am confirms the bad news. She said that she got a call from Viji Ma'am today morning and came to know that Viji Ma'am's mother has passed away.

So Class XII will have Maths Extra Classes in June...(mostly from 15th to 28th..I'll confirm.)
Unlike in my earlier post:"Holidays...What's that??" where I had mentioned that Viji Ma'am will be taking extra classes in June...I was a bit angry with Ma'am but not anymore. I'm really sorry for that post...and I have no complaints about the June Math Classes either.

So Guys...Please Pray for our Math Teacher's Mother and hope that she Rests in Peace...and please take the Extra Classes in the Right Stride...It's going to help us in the end..

FAATAK NAATAK.....GREAT GATE!!!

I commmmmmmpletely agree with Sanchit and I'm sure everyone [except certain unbearably buttering personalities in school...God Foorgive Them] who walks to school will agree. Moreover, we are expected to be in time for the first period, unless you want our Bio teacher's scrawly sign in your Diary. So even if you're at the back gate in time...do they expect us to run the entire circumference around KV1 in two seconds...be realistic people!!And it seems the reason for this abnormal [normal in NCS ] idea is that during vacations there is no working staff to man the back gate...so....don't ask me!?! DO they expect Martians to come marching in for invasion from there? And it is not as if there is a "sone-ki-khaan" in our school...let me put it this way.....NO ONE WOULD WANT TO COME INTO NCS compound. And the poor students who have no option, are actually being troubled. Are these people crazy?

The other gate is that near Bharani building, just at the DOCKYARD HOUSE.Now this gate has its own maha-kathaa.It has the insanest of timings. It opens in the morning at around 7 then closes at 9.30.Again it opens sometime during the day..and closes at 2.30.Now school gets over at 2.30 and we can't be there.Had it been open till 3, our walking time and distance in this merciless summer would've reduced.BUT NO! We're mad..and we'll drive you mad..is their motto.Theek hai, bhai. But now the idiot-of-a-sentry asked us for ur ID PASS??!!!!Hullllooooo......?Does he expect us to carry our identification passes, Birth certificate, Ration card..to school??When we argued that we were in uniform he said it wasn't proof enough.Well, it just shows that either he consider NCS to be a non-existent school or us to be AL-QAEDA's or LTTE's little terrorists.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind shootig some of them....

"Extra Classes" Blues

Class X to XII have their boring extra classes going on.
Almost 60% of the Students enter school by using the School's Backdoor.
Today, after school, a few friends and I walked towards the Principal's office to ask someone to open the BackDoor as it was locked.
A Naval Officer was standing outside the Principal's Office and overheard our Request to the Peon for opening the Door. Instead of minding his own business (Sorry for being so Frank...but I think I have my Fundamental Right of Speech in this "so-called" Free Country), he interrupts us and WARNS the peon. He tells him that to avoid the "open the door" queries everytime, do not open the door at all....
Hmm...Impressive Logic, I must say...Don't the NDA and Naval Academy Admission Examinations have a Logical Reasoning Section as well? I wonder how he can afford to give his Thinking Ability a day-off when he's an honourable Naval Officer???
And what's wrong in opening the gate anyway? The gate is constructed so that it can be used, dear Sir...It has not been constructed for display.

Oh Dear Principal and NCS Authorities...Lend Me Your Ears for we speak for the welfare of our school...yet it seems as if we're not being heard.

Holidays??? What's that?

Life for Class XII Students takes an unexpected turn...
We've heard that Viji Ma'am's mother is in COMA and Ma'am has gone off to visit her.
We all pray for her mother...and hope she gets better soon.
So because of this Viji Ma'am will not teach Class XII Students in the Extra Classes period...ie. till May 21.
So, when she comes back, she'll make up for her absence earlier by teaching us in June...
though it's not her fault...from the Student point of view..."WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO US??"

Also, I heard that Viji Ma'am is leaving School sometime this year....I'll confirm this soon.

Happy Holidays!!!

It's Vacation time...
I hope everyone is excited and is having their line up ready of their "Things to Do" List...Watch Movies,Play Some Sports, Go for a vacation,Sleep,Study...(oops...)
Just enjoy yourselves in these vacations and try to stay away from textbooks for a while...because that sort of change is needed, but that doesnt mean that you Ignore your Holiday Homework...
So Enjoy Life and Have a Great Vacation.

The NCS Blog may lie a bit dormant from now on since only class X and XII have extra classes. So most of the information that will be posted from now on till the commencement of the school will only be related to Class X and Class XII.

SO HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!!!
And for those who are in 10th and 12th...well...I guess I'll cya on Monday...*wink*.

Interesting Intercom Interaction...

A few announcements were made today...and as most of you were absent (it being a Saturday), I would not like to deprive of you the joy of those enjoyable words...
First announcement came by the way of a warning.Principal's booming voice echoed that all students were to restrain from hitting each other, using stones, legs etc. as yesterday a boy was seriously injured and such mishaps can be easily avoid if you and I act more maturely.I do not know how far Principal's idea of us approaching her, the Headmistress, Co-ordinators in case of a problem will turn true, but I have faith that each one of us can pause to think once before raising your hand or "raising your leg (Principal's words)" to injure someone. Is the brawl worth it?
The second was not as solemn as the first one.It actually left our teacher blushing and us in peals of laughter. The usual teacher-bashing by the Principal on the intercom without thought for effect on the juveniles had us laughing."ALL teachers must compulsorily sign the muster(attendance record of teachers) before leaving school today ELSE THEY WILL NOT BE PAID THEIR VACATION SALARIES!!!".Honestly...is there need to shout this out to the whole school..from primary bacchas to senior bacchas??
Lastly, was Mrs.Chhikara's wishes in the morning assembly."Wish you all the best for your vacations..use your time fruitfully...blah blah blah...ALL THE BEST".Hello? We aren't going for a war- jus plain ol' holidays!!!Cut the pleasantries please!Atleast on the last day...

TEJAS' DOUBLE-TAKE: ACTING DUMB....Literally!

Today's post is about the much-anticipated DUMB-CHARADES COMPETITION held in the green shed in
the last 3 periods today. And you get it all, straight from the horse's(in this case, winner's!!!)
mouth...

Names were volunteered during the first House Meetings weeks back. These were followed by eliminations within the houses which the led to these teams for today:

ANGRE: Sanchit Karve(XII B), Sourabh Giri(XII B), Siddharth (X)
ASVINI:Chitwan Bedi (XI A), Pratik Nagaraj (XII A), Savyasachi Sahai (XII A)
KUNJALI: Abhinav Sharma (XII B), Rahul Panse (XII B), Tejas Yadav (XII A)
TRATA: Aditya Kaushik (XII B), Anindya Basarkod (XII A), Vipul

Practices had begun a couple of weeks back with each House-team hijacking varied possible
locations: Asvini used Computer Lab, Trata also used the other Computer Lab, Angre utilised the physics lab (majorly) and Kunjali restrained to Biology lab.All weird and original symbols and intricate codes were cooked up...for the most unimaginable possibilites.
Since most of the participants were from Class XII (check above), it was planned that only the
three sections of class XII would be witness to the non-verbal match. But generously, even class
XI was allowed audience.I believe all House Mistresses were also present. And minutes after the
long break, it began...

6 rounds- 2 minutes per act - Lot of jitters - and even more excitement.Without fear of
criticism, I can frankly state that the top favourites were the ASVINI team.

Round I was Hindi movies.Pakeeza, Sultanat, Majboor and Pinjar were the clues. Most teams picked up 10 points.Kunjali grabbed a bonus 5 for pass-on.
Round II was Books.Canterbury Tales, Crime and Punishment, Pickwick Papers were some of the books.Asvini took an amazing 2-3 seconds to guess!!!

Round III was Proverbs."Penny wise & pound foolish", "A bird in hand is better than 2 in the
bush", "Imitation is the best form of flattery" and "All work no play makes Jack a dull boy" were the clues.Asvini picked up a bonus 5 from Angre's loss and Kunjali secured 5( thanks to teacher
discretion).

Round IV was English movies. The Day After Tomorrow, Where Eagles Dare were some of them. The Trata player misread his clue...leading to a baffling confusion amongst all teams.Trata lost out carelessly.

Round v was Celebrities.Shobhaa De, Bismillah Khan, Naomi Campbell and Jeniffer Lopez were the clues.Naomi Campbell vexed Asvini till the last 4 seconds while JLo was a 5-7 seconds hit for Angre!!
Round VI was Mixed Bag.A notable mention of Angre's guessing "Maggie Tomato Sauce" and Asvini's "Malai Kofta Curry" is a must.Kunjali got a simpe "Calender".

KUNJALI, which'd been leading in all the rounds and guessed all clues except the proverb-falter, won with ASVINI just 5 points behind.Third was TRATA and lastly ANGRE.And a lil' secret for you guys...the Kunjali and Asvini teams were treated by the House teachers
afterwards at the CANTEEN!!!

For Kunjali, it was the first victory of the year...and many more to come. For those who won, CONGRATULATIONS; for those who didn't IT IS JUST A GAME and for the
others...remember, PRIDE COMES BEFORE A FALL.

Always play with humility, integrity, confidence and honesty---NO ONE CAN STOP YOU!

SANCHIT'S TAKE ON May 6, CCA

Ok...First of All...The Good News for the Girls Basketball team is that the Finals Basketball Match is postponed tentatively after the Summer Vacations.

Today while the other classes didnt have anything interesting for CCA, there's no point writing about it.
Meanwhile Class XII had Dumb Charades...and It had it's twists and turns at every corner. Here's a detailed explanation of how it went.

It consisted of 6 Rounds which included Hindi Movie,Proverbs,Books,English Movie,Celebrities and Mixed Bag.

Here were the participants from all the Houses:
ANGRE
  • Sanchit Karve
  • Siddharth Jetly
  • Sourabh Giri

ASHVINI
  • Chitvan Bedi
  • Pratik Nagraj
  • Savyasachi Sahai

KUNJALI
  • Abhinav Sharma
  • Rahul Panse
  • Tejas Yadav

TRATA
  • Aditya Kaushik
  • Anindya Basarkod
  • Vipul
Ashwini was the first to lose 10 points initially out of which 5 points were given to Kunjali as a pass-over. Still they didnt lose hope and went on without a mistake.
Angre started off fine but due to a few placement errors..we didn't get the perfect order of "the","and" and "or". First of all..the proverb:"Penny Wise and Pound Foolish"(as it was given during The Programme) is actually "Penny Wise,Pound Foolish".Due to that careless mistake, Angre lost 10 points.
[KUNJALI HAD GOT 5 Points earlier for getting the majority of the "sentence right". But Angre didn't get even 5 points for missing out on "AND"]
Once again when I had acted "The Good,The Bad and the Ugly" Sourabh mentioned:"The Good,Bad and Ugly". What Can I say? Totally unforgivable Mistake...Everyone agreed.

Kunjali were rock-on...They were perfect throughout...and the whole team was calm and composed unlike the other houses where only few people were calm. Their consistency and a slight touch of Good-Luck, they emerged as winners.

Trata I laugh when I think of them. In the English Movie Round, Vipul was acting:"Where Eagle's Dare". Now...each chit had the round number written on them...and so Vipul read his chit like this:
"R4 Where Eagles Dare" [r4 = Round 4...but Vipul didnt get that]
So...He tried to act out R4 as well...Trata got the last three words....the actual movie name and were struggling to get R4(Stupid Vipul...) and all they could get was that it ended with "4".
So the pass-over went to Angre and so we said "THEREFORE WHERE EAGLES DARE" since Therefore ends with 4. Asvini tried "THERE WHERE EAGLES DARE" and Kunjali said "WHO FEARS WHERE EAGLES DARE "(totally off-track...)
When we learnt what a blunder Vipul had made...We were shocked...Someone later from their house said that:"That can happen only because of low I.Q"...
So The Final Results were as follows:

1) KUNJALI
2) ASVINI
3) TRATA
4) ANGRE
Congrats KUNJALI and ASHVINI HOUSE!!!

Don't forget to Call me when you're throwing a party!!!

Sarees, Fountains, Water Supply, No short break,Clean labs....ROOM FRESHNERS IN THE CORRIDORS

I do not wish to repeat what Sanchit has already told you about "D-DAY".What he did miss out, was that the routinally, murderous ASSEMBLY also was lost it's way in today's chaos....
And you'll be shocked to know...that all the corridors, labs and offices were actually sprayed with ROOM FRESHNER (!!!) minutes before the arrival of the "elite guests..." which were actually Mrs.Chikkara's words..and not the Principal's [as Sanchit had observed].
But the gastric juices which are so beautifully programmed to pour out precisely at 10.25(short break) were also disappointed today. An exceptionally long 4th period...lead to a solitary break of 35 minutes.During this time period, all the touch-ups for the inspection started vanishing...the most noticeable being water supply.
Lastly, one period from the day was completely obliterated.Which fortunately for us, was one of two BIOLOGY PRACTICALS.When we did reach te lab...we were not at all surprise to see LA OPALA crockey laid out over the working tables to dry after having been used to serve the guests!!!
The lady, who it is rumoured is of some royal Rajput lineage, was kind enough to visit our class first, it being closest to the Principal's office.Flanked by the Chairman and Principal, she looked as if she had no clue what was happening.
In and out, the inspection went as it should have for the Principal and school staff....sadly not the way we'd have it.
You know guys, False Pretences are a BIG turn off!!!
Tejas

Inspection Day...(for a day)

Yes...As Predicted...Today was the great Inspection Day...The Day when the School gets it's best arrangements done only for the "elite visitors"(Principal's Description)...or should I say...special arrangements only in their presence.
The whole Idea of an inspection is too see whether everything is running well.
But Our Beloved Principal Changes the whole schedule of the school (including the time table) hampering all Practical Sessions and Study periods just for the inspection period. Whatever happened to our Pro-Academic Principal? Did she even think about the students?

Mentioned below were the Special Arrangements made only today:
  • School Flag at Entrance.
  • Water Fountain Switched on Outside School.
  • The Red Carpet [this one can be ignored...]
  • SHORT BREAK CANCELLED !!!
  • Students Denied to Use Labs.
  • Forced Usage of "Bharatiya Vidya".
  • Water Supply in Toilets.
Let me elaborate further. Everyday when a student goes to the washroom to wash his face, the taps are always out of water. Today, water was not a problem at all...All on FULL FLOW. What makes it even more suspicious is that as soon as I went to the washroom after the Inspection concluded...Water Supply ceased again. What more can I say...

What's the point in giving a longer long-break anyway? It's like this: Why can't we eat BreakFast,Lunch and Dinner at the same time??? The Question seems rhetoric to me at least...

Why is the Principal doing this? Let the Inspection Team look at the school the way it is...not like how it happened today. Here's the reason why the arrangements were made:

NO SHORT BREAK

No Short break obviously means no students near the canteen, which also means no Fights, no Pranks, no Noise.

NO LAB ACCESS

We all know how disciplined we are in the School Labs. A lot of students meddle with the devices and chemicals and so once again...No Students in Labs...No Problems...

Forced Usage of "Bharatiya Vidya"

You must have heard of the phrase:" the show OFF must go ON...".
The Principal specially mentioned that the "Vidya" Program must be used for ever study period during the inspection process.
But then...what's the point? If school was made to run as usual, then the Inspection team would have actually known how frequently the Vidya Program really is used? Is it worth the time and money? Are the Students Benefiting from it?
Ok..Forget I said all this...Remember earlier (check earlier posts)..ie. a few weeks back, the Principal had told the Teaching Staff very frankly that the Bharatiya Vidya Program is to be discontinued. Then What happened to it now? It's anazing how decisions change due to situations...and School is where we supposedly learn about being confident and sticking to one's decisions. Interesting I must say...

My Sincere advice to the Inspection Team...First Of All...I hope they have realised that they have been literally FOOLED today by the Principal.
If they want First-Hand Information about the school...do visit our school on random occasions (ie. visit the school when nobody knows about it). This way you shall see the School in it's true colours. Then hopefully a few shortcomings of the school can be tweaked...

Hiding the Institutions mistakes is not a solution...and shall never be.

One more thing...Here are a few lines taken from the Morning Assembly:
Principal: "Let's show the elite visitors that we are a part of one of the best schools in Mumbai."
Ma'am, not that I hate NCS Mumbai...but let's be realistic...Government Schools are no match for Private Schools. The whole administration structure is entirely different. I know as I am an Ex-Student of St.Mary's ICSE Mumbai....and share similar thoughts with my fellow students who have been to a private school before.
So is it "Best Government School"??? If so...then I concur with the Principal.

[ IMPORTANT ] : BLOG VIEWERS

I noticed one thing that new viewers of the blog just look at the top few posts and just leave it out there.
I suggest you all start from the bottom of the page [the NCS Logo post] and then move your way up.

Enjoy the Blog and be sure to post your comments...

grrrrrrrrrr

technology has proven once again that Ruchi and technology dont mix. Irambled on and on and on and on for 30 minutes...only to do smthing that successfully wiped all my ramblings from the face of cyberia!( I dont know what I did, cos if I did...I wdn't have done it right?)

Where are the diaries of yore where one wrote and the words stayed on the sheet for eons unless of course a tear drop( of nostalgia, sorrow, joy or just watery eyes from an allergic reaction) washed away the ink?????????????

Then came Doogie Howser MD with the computer as a substitute for ink and paper. I still remember how overawed we all were with the idea! Were any of you even born when they showed Doogie??(Geez...I feel old !)

Getting this blog ki gaadi back on the patri....I had planned to ramble on about the fact that NCS staffrooms have been in the past 3 days engulfed with 742.5 metres of cloth!!! Did any of you miss that? Well if by an freak of nature you have managed to do so...fear not! In this case, opportunity to witness this phenomenon shall knock on your door again tomorrow! If you still manage to miss that...fear not! This opportunity shall present itself at your threshold EVERY SINGLE PTA and ofcourse special occassions and special visitations by the kindred gentry!

It is amazing how we can get used to anything.... anyone who knew me in my pre-NCS days would not believe I could carry off a saree even if my life depended on it. But look now! Not only can I keep a saree on...I can learn to drape one without any assistance too! Geez....Humans amaze me. How we adapt to anything and everything...we get used to things soooooooo easily.Complacency rules!

Just look around...we may crib and we may cry....but we all drape 5 and a half metres of cloth whenever we are asked to.
Look beyond the staff room to class 11....they crib and they cry...but they still come to school.
Look beyond the class to the canteen....we may crib and we may cry....but samosas that monopolise the canteen menu are still the chosen source of sustenance.

Ah well...I doff my imaginary hat to...
.... all those who do manage to not 'just crib and cry' but actually get down to resolving whatever it is that they are cribbing about.
....all those who do drape all that excess material around themselves ever so gracefully and live to tell the tale.
....all those teachers who have a class immediately after any of your PT classes.
....all those who are going to study this coming summerbreak
....and last but not the least...
...all those who reached so far.

SHALOM!

TEJAS:
You bet! We've managed to rope in one of the best and coolest teachers at school for our blog.Impeccable English, totally capable of understanding our thought process..and I'm sure a great Blogger.Yes, we have RUCHI MA'AM.

Keep a lookout for posts from her!

SANCHIT:
Great to hear the news. We all hope to see some "Staff-Room Inside Stuff" Content Posts from her !!!

It's a Shame...PART II

This one is because of the students themselves.
  • In Class XII-B, students stole a few extra almanacs making the rest of the class pay for the loss.
  • Graffiti found on the Mirrors on the Toilets.
  • Foul Language engraved on Class XI-B walls.
  • 2 Hard-Disks and 1 Mouse STOLEN from the Computer Lab.
  • CD's Stolen in Class...
We're busy talking about non-students who spoil the school's name...but what about these stated above? Aren't we responsible too???

It's a Shame...

Whenever I just go out for a walk I come across a lot of people. I see quite a lot of people wearing old NPS/NCS P.T Uniforms and walking around...and when I mean people I obviously mean people who aren't a part of the school.
The Worst part is that most of the people who wear the Uniform act like rogues on the streets and it gives a bad impression about the School...What's more? It makes me feel ashamed of being a part of NCS....
I couldnt take it anymore when I saw somebody wearing an old Angre House T-Shirt using offensive language and shouting while playing Cricket near a Building. They even climbed garages and shouted words like: Ch**t**e , Ga**u and even more.
A Man nearby came and shouted at those kids. What will he think of our School?

So Please People....If any one of you are leaving school on transfer...PLEASE DONT GIVE YOUR UNIFORMS TO YOUR MAID SERVANTS......
It's in our own School's interest!!!

Kanjeevaram..Banarasi...Silk...SAREE show ends tomorrow...

Wondered why all our teachers have been draping those colourful, gleaming sarees all this week??Gave a thought as to why suddenly the Kunjali and Asvini dance groups were revived today?

Simple...INSPECTION tomorrow from 9.30 to 11.30 hours.Na, na na..don't let your hopes rise.No free periods.School, staff and we will have to be in our best forms.
So don't be shocked if you see the floors sparkling, fountains bubbling, flags fluttering in the school tomorrow.
Let's wait and see how it goes...

NCS Mumbai...It's more than just a school...We found out that our School is used as a Dump 'n' Burn Yard at late nights.

Impending Doom....Unit Tests!

School closes....Vacations...freedom...school re-opens...UNIT TESTS!!!
The chain of thoughts is soured by the idea of having to atleast "touch" the school-books...for the sake of conscience, yellingp parents..or maybe just boredom(which seeps in sometimes after a few weeks of having to do nothing).
Junior classes still have the privelge of simpler and fewer chapters...but then no one knows the weight of another's burden.Surely, we all want to 'chillax' and take a break from everything cumbersome(read mugging formulae, roting reactions, licking-up entire hindi poems and sanskrit shlokas....).But then, does not one need to tire himself to deserve his daily bread. The same applies to each one of us.All play and no work makes jack a dull boy....but quiet possiby, all play and no work makes jack a toy.
For 12thees like me, even though it is not assauging in the slightest, it is our last year of school life.Just take it-FOR THIS ONCE!!!
For those who'll enjoy the beautiful and lush gardens, sophisticated computer-labs, voluminous library, inviting canteen and awesome education of NCS for years to come...you don't have a choice !!!
So these holz, do take a peek-a-boo at those books...who knows, you may actually find somethign interesting...?!?!

More than just 3rd May

It all starts with MASS P.T: uh...um..yes...Even the 12th's have to do it.
At the same time, The girls basketball match is supposed to be played on the Navy Nagar Court outside school.
Fine...The Girls move out and our Mass P.T Starts...obviously there's no co-ordination and the last excercise which includes the *clap* had a slight change today. Instead of doing the regular, the full school just clapped for at least 10 seconds which enraged the principal of a then uncontrollable school and the best she could do was this:
"We'll talk about this later. There is a meeting for the teachers at 12:30 in my Office at the Green Shed."
Hmm...Interesting...I never knew she had two offices...one in the green shed...

Anyways, me and a friend slipped out and darted off towards the basketball court outside school...(we took permission as well...we ain't that bad you know...) to witness the most unforgettable match ever. Here's the Transcript of what happened.

The First Match was Angre v/s Trata. I have to admit...Trata was impressive...and defeated Angre as if it was their practice match...But Angre initially played well preventing Trata to score points for 15 minutes.
Ajay Sir was ignoring every foul that was commited on court for the simple reason that if he would do so...then the match would go on and on. He was right...
So The Final Score was 14 TRATA : 3 ANGRE.

The Next match was much more power-packed than the previous. Ashwini House were really were aggressive and Kunjali House were playing a clean "Always Keep Possession and Pass" Game. However they couldn't keep their cool and couldnt take the aggressiveness and eventually lost.
I got a few people and we cheered for both teams...which went something like this:
Me: Give me a K!! [shout]

Everyone : "K!!!" [shout]

Me : Give me a U!!

Everyone: "U!!!"

Gimme a N,J,A,L,I (just like above)

Me: What do you get?

Everyone : Kunjali!!! Kunjali!!! Kunjali!!!

The sad part was for Kunjali...Students from the same house(who weren't playing...) started feeling ashamed of their own house and were constantly commenting on their game..which obviously angered the Kunjali House and made them lose hope.
Sad Guys...So what if you lose....You still get something others dont...experience...And One can only enjoy success if he has lost in the past...
So Cheer up Kunjali Guys...You all seriously played well...
They'll be facing Angre in the next game on 7th...So I guess our team has to be up and ready for the Kunjali Team...Angre needs to start...Kunjali needs to improvise....(notice the difference).

That's all for today...Catch you guys later then.

Practice before you preach...Suffer the Sun before you Screach!!!

Summers in our part of the world (read Basketball Courts-cum-Assembly grounds, NCS,Navy Nagar) are always unbearable. This time around is no different. The scorching cement of the court and humid airs of morning hours make you wonder...why???Is the assembly sooooo imperative. What with the seniors swaying with delirium, I can imagine the condition of the younger ones. And one student fainting or collapsing or vomiting per assembly per day is now a part of the routine.Humidity as the News-Reporter tells us is soaring to alarming 70-80% and temperatures are close to 33-35 degrees. But that surely doesn't seem to perturb the authorities or the teachers.
Why?Well, quiet simply because they are well protected by the life-giving shade of the trees or TIFR builidngs.Fine..somehow we will survive the envy of seeing our teachers in shades or in technologically air-conditioned offices, as is the case with some of them. But then comes out the Prefectorial Board, precisely after both the ever-lasting prayers are over, in a group reminding me of the cast of 'Ocean's Eleven'.And then starts the horrendous checking of belts, position, posture and everything possible.Ij ust have one thing to say to all of them- before you preach us, check yourselves dears...and before you ask us to stand patiently in the unnecssary assembly(given the beautiful intercoms!!), try standing on the boiling court..every day..every week..every month...and sadly..every year!!!
