Sanchit's Take on Class 12 Picnic
Finally, Class 12 gets a picnic...after constant reminders by the Head Boy to the Principal and by students to the head-boy. [ Truly a three-tier system indeed. ]
So the place was Alibag or Alibaug as the hoardings out there suggested, and reaching the destination was a major task in itself, as we shall find out below.
Most of us arrived outside School at 6am sharp while the rest made it by 6:30. By the time all the formalities were complete, it was around 7am. There was a little bit confusion about the Bus and since Tejas knows more on this issue, I leave it to him to report the matter.
So then started the "Bus-Journey". We reached Jija-Mata Udyaan at 8:05 am and had a very short halt there for some reason and started off again. The Best part of the initial bus journey was that since everyone was so excited ( as shown below )...

...noone realised that the bus was headed in the wrong direction. A few of us weren't that keen on playing Antaakshiri and we owe our survival to our MP3 Players. I really cursed those who just went on and on and on with the songs...but in a wierd way...it was indeed fun.
At around 11:30 we reached a so-called "half-way Point" or "Breakfast Halt". It's path was like this:

After having a really delicious breakfast ( pohas and tea...ok i didnt like the tea...pohas AWSM ) I went exploring with Yash and Aseem and gave it up on being growled at by 3 dogs. Then we divided ourselves into groups and saw the small pottery industry which included a live demonstration.

That done, our bus journey continues and I lost count of how many wrong turns we took, and neither do I want to ask Radha Ma'am about it as she seemed tensed about it too. Don't worry Ma'am...It's not your fault...we blame SAAD TRANSPORT...

Though I really felt that the name should have been...

Then at 1:15 pm we reached the so-called Resort...which turned out to be a restaurant ( was that the magic in the show??? ) which had a great lunch too.
After having hogged, we got back in the bus, tried to get a siesta inspite of the Antakshiri in the background and somehow managed to get a snooze...
We then made it to a beach, where we spent around 20 minutes.

And then we made a return journey at 5pm and stopped somewhere in Panvel for High-Tea. In the end it turned out to be a 12 Hour Picnic in the Bus itself.
I'm sorry to have omitted certain areas/details and spots and I hope Tejas can throw some light on that.
Anyway, here are some excerpts during the Bus Journey.

....who always maintained a smile on her face inspite of all the obstacles we faced in our picnic.
Nothing more to pen about due to time constraints.
I hope I've covered the prominent parts of the Picnic.
AND BTW....Please Leave CLEAN Comments...

What I wanted to tell the Teachers who came with us that we had fun though we expected something else. No matter how horrible things go, as long as we're with our friends, we'll always have a ball. So please dont feel Guilty...we understand that it's not your fault at all...esp. to Radha Ma'am...

P.S : What we weren't pleased with, is that we requested the Principal to permit Meenakshi Ma'am and Vidya Ma'am to come for our picnic, as it was our last year in school, but she flatly refused as she wanted only class teachers to attend.
It would have been much more fun with all our teachers...

13 THINGS THAT WENT WRONG WITH THE PICNIC(if you wish to call it one):-
1. First, the bus came one hour late. All students, with the exception of a few, had come on time. The DEPARTURE TIME WAS 600 HRS. The bus arrived at 7:00 am(and we wonder why India in not a developed nation)
2. Secondly, there were 69 students that showed up. Now how in the world can you fit in so many people in ONE khatara bus. So the “TOUR MANAGER” decided to call 2 qualises. Really great management TOUR MANAGER.
3. Thirdly, I think the school administration goes out of its way to find such khatara buses. I mean even an average bus would do, but why such a pathetic bus?
4. So we left at 7:00am. We had barely covered a few kms before the bus driver stopped for tea. First he shows up late and then has the daring to delay us further by stopping for his morning tea.
5. So we are finally on our way. Half of the people in the bus are standing. They fall when the bus accelerates-decelerates or moves right or left. But we haven’t lost hope yet.
6. The bus journey seems never ending. Then as we are going, the bus driver suddenly stops and takes a U-Turn. Can u believe it we had come the WRONG WAY? We must have lost at least an hour. Finally we arrived at 11.00am at some place for ‘breakfast’
7. Point no 7-IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A PICNIC AND NOT AN EDUCATIONAL TRIP. On some other day I might have had interest in pottery making and the process of creation of oil, but not on that day. It was supposed to be a day of fun and enjoyment and NOT LEARNING.
8. Finally, we leave the gramudyog place at 12.00. Yet again we are traveling in the rickety bus. We enter the town of Alibag and have yet again TAKEN A WRONG TURN. Haven’t the drivers heard of a thing called a MAP?
9. We then land up at a place near the sea. Students are engaged in photo session while the drivers and TOUR MANAGER are clueless about where to go next.
10. THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS A RESORT!!!
After the near sea place, we traveled in the bus for another 10 mins and reached a place called the ‘RESORT’.It was a mere restaurant and NOT A RESORT.
11. THE FOOD:-
Where do I begin? The quantity of oil in the food was equivalent to my entire month’s consumption. The two sabsijia looked same and even tasted the same.
12. Well then we left the so called ‘RESORT’ and traveled for half an hour to get to the BEACH. And what a pathetic beach it was. I have seen the beaches of Goa and Kerala and this beach was nothing in comparison, not even 1%. And guess how much time we get to spend at the beach-20 mins!!!
13. Then we begin our journey back to NCS.
More comedy on the way. Apparently one of the qualises went in the wrong direction(towards goa). Another quails driver was a maniac and driving at 120kmph! The teachers in the SUVs(giriga ma’m and lakshmi ma’m) were reading religious scriptures and praying for their lives. I can tell because for the last part of the journey I had been shifted in the quails. The two SUVs were having a race!

SUMMARY:
DEPARTURE: 0700HRS
ARRIVAL: 2130 HRS AT SCHOOL(apparently another weird order of the principal that no civilian students will be dropped on the way)
TOTAL JOURNEY TIME: 14HRS AND 30 MINS
TOTAL TIME SPENT IN THE BUS-11 HRS
TOTAL TIME STATIONARY- 3.5HRS
SO MUCH FOR A PICNIC.

MY QUESTIONS TO THE PRINCIPAL.
1. From which corner of Mumbai did u find this so called TOUR MANAGER?
2. From which corner of Mumbai did u find SAAD TRAVELS AND THEIR KHATARA BUSES?
3. We had been begging for a picnic for over a month. May I remind you that there was no picnic in 11th Std. Why O Why did u put us through so much misery?
FURTHER COMMENTS:
1. The worst picnic in all my years at nPs.
2. We want our money back. We had paid for a PICNIC and not a BUS JOURNEY. Hell, we could have taken a B.E.S.T bus for that. At least it would have been better than SAAD TRANSPORT. We had been misled into the picnic. There was no resort and certainly no entertainment.
3. I have little interest in the game of Antakshari. Hence I did not enjoy the journey as much as the others.
4. I envy the people who decided not to go to the picnic.

frankly speaking, itz not all that tough 2 make arrangements i.e decent arrangements with 225 per child. we didn't expect a volvo, but neither did we expect a box on 4 wheels.but we can't blame principal maam, we shud be happy we got 2 go...and still managed 2 have fun. so, lets just enjoy the pix now..what else!??!?!?!

I AM PITIABLY REGARDLESS..... AND ASHAMED OF ADITYAZ COMMENT.DEPLORABLE .If i wished I would delete it, but since I have never deleted any comment on the school blog howsoeever OUTRAGEOUS it might be, I will not do so.
But warning to everyone.....There are people in school who check the blog now.RESTRICT your viciousness, sarcasm and HUmour.

tejas unfortunately Adityas comment is pretty accurate and he has some very valid points .

I never refused to Aditya's comment having valid points. However, there is a certain way of putting across what u wan2 say.Making a list of 13 porblems is only an indication of extreme Pessimism....There r more contsructive ways of pointing out an event's fallbacks....
By
Tejas, at 4:27 AM, September 23, 2005
I dont think its a way off pessimism, its the only way the damn school "authoritees" will listen , I f you give it to the them in their face!!

Well.....sorry to disappoint u......BUT this blog is no way close 2 "giving it to the authorities in the face"{No top-level authority reads our blog!!!}......if u genuinely have the guts....go tell them in person!

Tejas, I'm sorry to say that you should have involved more people, and better ideas, in planning the picnic. If you couldn't do it yourself, you should have involved others. And Rs. 225/- for that ordeal to Alibagh!!! You surely have no sense of financial management. Or are you so defensive about the picnic because you have a personal "pride" in it?
By
Anonymous, at 3:07 AM, September 26, 2005
Again u loose the point.I DID NOT PLAN THE PICNIC......all the planning and arrangement was done by the Principal and the Tour opeators. So, therz no discussion abt me havinng involved more ppl.I wasnt involved!!!
Secondly again.......IT WAS NOT MY FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT.The price and everything else for Principalz decision.
I dont know when it will strike all of u dat my job was to make sure we DID GO for a picnic.rest all was not in my hands. At the end of the day even im a student,, nothing more.I dont have as many powers as u guys r imagining....
Had it been an overtly succesful picnic, i doubt how many of u wud have thanked me.....But now that it dint go as u guyz wnated it 2....I seem to be the scapegoat for all accusations and blames for EVERYTHING that went wrong.
Pause a moment beofre pointing ur figner at me.....
