Holidays around the corner....and a long road ahead for X and XII

You know me?Don't you? Let us excuse my presumption and start by telling you about who I am.Tejas Yadav, Class XII A and quite obviously in Navy Children School.More importantly, an avid writer and a friend to Sanchit.I shall be adding my experiences in our dear, dear school (feeeel the sarcasm) whenever I get time and also whenver my junk-of-a-computer is merciful.I congratulate Sanchit on this novel idea of an "un"official school blog and we hope you guyz keep checking back for more.....

For most of you, it is the last week before school closes for the Summer vacations. For some of you it spans two months, for others a generous one month. And I would not be wrong in thinking that railway tickets to whisk you off to holiday-spots with your family would've already been acquired; classes for all sorts of imaginable activities would've been enrolled into and for the lazy ones....dreams of absolute inactivity would've already started creeping in...right?
But spare a thought for the extra classes-stricken Xthees and XIIthees. As if the excruciatingly killing classes in this hot summer were not enough, they want us to attend EXTRA classes!!!Most porbaly, even class XI will be subject to this torture. But then, so many before us have passed this ordeal and so must we....but for all you no-tension free-birds....wait till you come to class X or XIIth.
So, make the most of your vacations- don't do something because everyone is or something that your parents want you to....do what you feel like!!!These times never come back....

Tejas

Angre Again...

Today the Finals of the Girls Kho-Kho Match was held and though I wasnt able to catch most of the details, I got to know that (once again...) Angre House won the match. Even the Football Match was won by the Angre House as well...
Wierd...Angre House would always be stuck on the 4th Position all these years...it's exactly the opposite now.
Now, the pressure's on us. Everyone's telling me that they gave their best shot for their events...now they want results for Dumb Charades as well...*gulp*

Monisha Ma'am had her hopes high too. Being one of the Angre House House Teachers, she was happy to see the Angre House win the Debates, Kho-kho and Football Match.
Now she wants results from the Girls Basketball team....well, um...I dont want to spoil her mood by telling her the truth...but as of now, The Girls team needs to work very hard. So Come on Girls...Just 2 days to go...Dedicate yourselves to the game as much as you can. If we do that, we can Do It....

What I did notice though, were Class X decorating their respective House Boards. When I was near the Principal's Office I could only see students from the Trata and the Angre House Doing their work. I guess the other two houses came in later...
Trata's Idea of SUMMERS...was beautiful...all their articles were great...and Angre didn't disappoint either...
Kunjali was known for it's attractive decorations for the House Board last year...and Trata for the Most-Spacious House Board.
Let's see how it turns out this time.

CCA Today.

Class 8 Debates were held today in the CCA Periods ( ie. the last 3 periods ) in the green shed.
I was overjoyed to hear that the Angre House emerged as winners. The Kunjali House turned out as runners up.
The Best Speaker was bagged by the Angre House speaker Karan. I heard him speak, and I felt he deserved it, whatsoever. He did make a few mistakes, but there were many other factors which made me overlook his faults.
So Kudos Karan and Angre House. Well Done!!!

Oh yes...I forgot to mention what the topic was about anyway. "TV Viewing is Harmful for Children."
This wasn't exactly a debate as each house had a speaker who spoke for FOR and AGAINST the topic. The House which could cover all the points in the best possible way won. I wasn't present there for long, so I don't know how the rebutal Session took place.

Perhaps some contributors might like to add to this post and elaborate further...What Say?

As Class 8 CCA went on smoothly, Class 12 was a lot more interesting. We were supposed to have English Essay Writing Competition and we had only two students participating:Aditya Maru and Vivek Menon of Class XII C. [commerce section]
Hmm...So I guess, in this competition everyone wins.Cool huh?
And...Dear Teachers, Can I bag the 3rd prize?? ;-)

Are Rules just made to be Broken?

How many days have you bunked already?
Are you aware of this rule: [Turn to Pg. 19 of School Almanac]

  • 90% Attendance is compulsary for students to be eligible to write the final examination.
  • 75% Attendance is compulsary for students of class X and XII to be eligible to appear for the board examinations.
While the latter rule is known to all of us, the 90% attendance does seem new to us...doesn't it?

Turning to Page 23 Point 12 which states that "using of Foul Language are punishable offences", I realised that almost every student can be held guilty...including me...*oops*.
I just mention this to someone in School, and I get a reply like this:
"Do whatever you want as long as you're not caught".
Seems reasonable...Doesn't it? Seems worth a discussion.

Speaking of being caught, some students of Class 12 [ not just this batch..even the previous one ] usually go to school via a Car, Scooter or a Bike or a Kinetic equivalent. If only they could turn to page 22 Rule 3 which states that:
"No Student is allowed to come to school by a self-driven scooter, motor cycle or car etc."

The Best part lies in the fact how a fellow classmate got away with this by a close shave. Recently my classmate had come to school on a Scooter and was seen by Class 10 and 11 English Teacher Mrs. Seema Ramesh. Taken by surprised, he was speechless when Ma'am entered our class just before the break. Here was how the Conversation went:

Ma'am : [Student], how did you come to school today?
Student : Ma'am...um...uh...well...
Ma'am : Was it a Two-wheeler?
Student : Yes...Ma'am...I mean...No..I came by a cycle.
Ma'am : Are you sure it was a cycle?
Student : Sure ma'am.
Ma'am : Or was it a Scooter...
Student : (interrupts) no..no...Two-wheeler...
[ Caught Red Handed...But it gets better ]
Ma'am : I hope you know what you've done.
Student : [thinks he's going to be punished for using the Scooter.Instead...]
Ma'am : Is the Helmet just for show?
Student : [Huh?]
Ma'am : Next time if I catch you without a helmet...you just watch...(gives a stern look and leaves)

Hmm...interesting isn't it.....Although credit should be given to Seema Ramesh Ma'am for forgiving him in the first place, if the student knew what he had was wrong beforehand itself, I wonder why he still did it anyway...

Oh Yes....The Student's name is Not Displayed to protect his identity.

Comin' Up!!!

Here's the list of events coming up Next Month:

  • 3rd May : TUESDAY - Inter-House Girls Basketball
  • 6th May : FRIDAY - Inter-House Dumb Charades [Srs.] { ENG and HIN }
  • 6th May : FRIDAY - Calligraphy Competiton [Jrs.]
  • 7th May : SATURDAY- Inter-House Girls Basketball FINALS

As far as what I've seen the Kunjali House are in full swing for the Girls Basketball Match. The other three houses though not as good as Kunjali ( as of now ) seem to be practising everyday before School Hours.

More than just Basketball, The Girls are more interested in participating in the upcoming Inter-School Girls Football Tournament. But the school currently offers only an Inter-House Football Match for the Girls are not ready to send the girls to participate in the tournament.
I hope the School Authorities are watching....
According to me, the exposure that the students will get by participating in inter-school events will give them more experience in the respective sport and it will also help the school realise where our students stand compared to the rest.
Hope NCS participates in all inter-school tournaments.
After all, it's not just about academics...is it?
