A Few Saturday Melodies...

On a fine Saturday Morning when the Football Matches were supposedly "stalled" due to bad weather ( find out the figure of speech here...lol..yup...missing girija ma'am here too..lol)...
, the class was practically empty as most people just turned up for the matches.
But all those who were present in class witnessed a rare moment...catch Radha Ma'am sing.
I heard that she sang one song in XII-A and two songs in XII-B. Thanks to an undisclosed source, we got both those songs recorded in Class as she sang it.
Along with that, is a BONUS sound file which contains the sweet voice of Reshul who also sang on the same day.
So enjoy the music....keeping only one thing in mind...TURN YOUR SPEAKERS ON FULL VOLUME to hear everything clearly.
And yes...no prizes for guessing who recorded it and what was used for recording...lol.

Enjoy the Recordings and Post your comments.
NCS Enjoy!!!

UPDATE 2: FAREWELL STALLED UNTIL END AUGUST

Yes.I too was in a state of flurry about the sudden-postponing of the event.I think you all need to be filled in WHAT EXACTLY HAS HAPPENED, so read on....

I got up today, the rainy Sunday after the no-football-match Saturday. The thought of finalizing a date was zooming though my head.I was looking through the School Diary for some appropriate day in August.

At 9.15 am, the phone rings, and guess who it is.........VIJI MA'AM......Now, I dont know why she called me, I just hope she hasn't sensed our preparations.

This is what she told me [I hope I'm not divulging stuff meant only for me....]:
"Tejas, I thought I'll tell you....I'll be cominng to school FOR ONE MORE MONTH......"

Now at this point, I think she expected a jubilant reply. But I was immersed in the process of working out things for our event that this NEWS shook me....annd all that escaped me was ...."Till when , Ma'am?"..

"You see" she said " Principal Ma'am spoke to me yesterday. And she said that since it was in the interest of Class 12th...I should come and teach all of you till SPETEMBER 10TH.I had decided to stop cominng so as to let your new teacher get accustomed to all of you.But now, I think I'll come till the time I'm in Mumbai...."

I realised that I should be "sounding happy" at this remark. And I did say something to gve away my happiness or atleast relief. That was the end of our ocnversation....

What is now required is MAJOR REASSESSMENT OF ALL PLANS.My brain, which managed to work out the following deatils in the past 15 minutes (yes, itz only been 15 minutes since I kept the phone's receiver down...), is urging me to note the following for all of you:

  1. All Contributions of Rs 20/- ARE STILL going to be collected on Monday. So, for all of you who haven't contributed yet...DO GET THE MONEY ON MONDAY.The contributions will be kept in safe custody of Radha Ma'am till the time we need it.
  2. All Practise Sessions to be stalled atleast till after AUGUST 15H.
  3. Discussion of Ideas, Creative Processes such as Scripting, Learning songs/instrumentals/items (which you feel may take longer ) to continue IN UTMOST DISCRETION.I swear, I shall slaughter the person who does any act to leak out OUR secret to Ma'am during her extended teaching time.
  4. Delegation of Duties for Catering, Decorating, Buying Gift/Card/Flowers etc also POSTPONED.We shall have enough time after Investiture.
  5. Lastly, WE ARE STILL OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS AND IDEAS .Do feel free to comment or contact me in school.Let us not barricade the underlying machinery.....I mean, let us keep things moving -JUST at a slower pace for now, and in a more secretive fashion.
As for the Date, again, it requires thought.I'm planning for sometime after II UT (After September 3).I know I will hear many "Oh! Damn"s after this.Letz just keep the tide flowing....surreptitiously, mind you!

VIJI MA'AM'S SURPRISE FAREWELL PARTY

OK GUYZ....I mean bussiness.Seriously.Discussing and planning a surprise event in school is close to IMPOSSIBLE.So, I am resorting to the School Blog. All major updates, discussions, ideas about the Farewell party are going to be posted here. You are all welcome to join in..restrain from Anonymous comments for these posts.

Lemme make it clear: I agree it was my inital idea to throw this surprise party - but thatz where the "I" sentences end.I want it to be from "US".All of us.I hope each one of us from Class XII helps in some way - small or big in making this event a great success and a day Ma'am will never forget. So, ppl, buck up....

Major issue is of the "DATE".As of now , I haven't decided upon it.I have got suggestions for keeping it after Independence Day (15th) , as our Picninc too will be over by then. However, UTz start on 29th of August before which is also the INVESTITURE.So keeping above factors in minnd....I beleive we will eventually FINALIZE ON A DATE BETWEEN 16-29 OF AUGUST.Ever-ready-2-help Radha Ma'am actually agreed to my request of speaking to Principal about hurrying with our Picnic so that we could workout the party!!!!

Now, lemme jus chalk out the "current" idea of the event.Remember, we are fully open to suggestions..and in future this programme is bound to undergo several changes:

  • BUDGET :Rs 20/- per student. Aprroximately 120 students = Rs 20 X 15 = Rs 2400
  • Cake (For Everyone!!!), A boquet, huge card and Gift (we need ideas for the gift!) for Ma'am
  • ALL STUDENTS's Email Addresses ( Viji Ma'amz casual request....she has no idea we are actually processing her deamand!!)
  • Decorations: Green Shed :One single huge-hand-painted-banner spalshed with a "Thank you Viji Ma'am", Streamers, Balloons, Charts.....nned more
  • Catering : Chips, Drinks, Patties, Pizzas (Thanx Pawan!).Also need Paper plates, spoons and thermocole-glasses.
ITEMS(volunteers for below ones and any more items are WLECOME):
  • Violin Performance : Pratik (XII A): We need a suggestion for a good song he can play!!!!
  • Guitar: Ashwith and Anindya (XII A & B): "A hundred Miles and Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye"
  • Duet Singing: Tejas and Reshul : "Zindagi Ke Safar Main Guzar Jaate Hai Jo Makaam"
  • Male Group Song: Ravinder. Kishan, Kanhaiya and need more : "Chalte Chalte Mere Ye Geet Yaad Rakhna"
  • Skit: Sanchit and need more...
  • Dance: Rakhi and need more.....
  • Speeches: Baldeep (Poem), Savyasachi (English speech), Ankita (English speech), Shalini (Hindi)

Any more ideas or help: LEAVE COMMENTS or contact me in school.

A PAGE OUT OF "TEJAS' PERSONAL DIARY"

"Even as I type this, I can see lightning flash across the gloomy sky and the thunder grumbling as if the very entrails of the clouds were moaning with pain....Rains lashed out today afternoon as I walked, make that struggled, back from the school.I had only two companions - my dilapidated Umbrella and a classmate.Neither was protection enough from the pouring rain.

"I exclaimed how we used to enjoy when school was closed, or we we were given half-day or even when the UT was postponed- ALL BECAUSE OF RAINS.And then, I thought..let us test the power of prayer. And I said, casually, God Let it Rain All Day Today, Tomorrow.....so that we get school off!

"Boy, was I in shock.I reached home drenched from head to toe.Wet books were last of my concern.I slept in a room which was darker than the darkest night I have know.It seemed as if Grey Clouds looming above had switched off a light in the world.Everything was dark....and the rain continued.

"Evening, I could see no possible prospects of going out for a walk.I resigned to completing my homework.Thunder seemed to be teasing me through my 11th floor window. And then, I heard the news..

"400 mm of rain - the heaviest recorded this season.RED ALERT announced for 48 hours.Schools and colleges to remain closed.Mumbai, the city of seven islands, had turned into an Isthmus...a floating waterbody.Hordes of people were stranded at their schools, colleges, workplaces, offices.Traffic Jams were the sight everywhere.

"And then, I received the message being passed on - NO SCHOOL.I was ebullient. But I was also pondering over the state of the thousands of people who were not being able to contact their dear ones and tell them where they where. No mobiles (networks were disrupted), crowding, panic....ALL BECAUSE OF RAINS.""

So, tomorrow you, who are reading this in the comforts of your warm room, and I, typing this from the warmth of my room, will enjoy our day off from school.Houses may rejoice....ONE more day for putting up the HOuse Board.Class XII Maths test postponed.Prefectorial Interviews delayed.Reasons for happiness abound....

While others labour their way through this torrential downpour, wade across knee-level water just to get to a shelter.

In the end, When it rains, it doesn't matter whether or not you have an umbrella....You just have to beleive in the Power of Prayer.................

The Name Suggests it all...

I completely agree with Tejas about the way the Judgement was made and how the programme was conducted. I agree, that this was the first time that the Solo Singing Competition was organised, but at least they could have thought of things which could make it interesting...or if not that then at least figure out a way how to pass time rather than make music sir sing nursery rhymes and call guys to sing from the audience.
But for the rest, try to look at the lighter side of it. Probably Kunjali House should have realised something before the competition began...Think about our School...NCS...
N : NO
C : CLASSICAL
S : SONGS

[ I guess now yu'll realise why people chose the other songs...lol ]

During School hours, a lot of us are called for the Prefectorial Council Nominations. It seems as if the administration is taking real pains to finish the ceremony as soon as possible...of course the earlier the better.
And Now Tejas mentions that it will be held in End-August...Woah...talk about delay...And I'm still surprised how NCS won the Annual Best School Trophy awarded by the CNC.
I'd dare say that it's not our school that's great....but the KV's that are deploring and the earlier our administration realises this fact, the better it is for our school.

What about our Computer Labs? I saw the lab during the vacations and I saw it again yesterday. Trust me, it was difficult to notice any change in the lab since the last time I saw it. Why do we hire those Engineers if they don't give decent output?

It started on 11th July when I was leading the morning Assembly. To my surprise, the prayer "Showers of Blessings..." was replaced by a song "Kyun Na Hum Sab Milkar."
I personally dont have any problems with it, but do you think it is apt to play a PATRIOTIC SONG instead of a prayer??(esp. when there isn't one in the first place...Vande Mataram is the National Song...not a prayer)
What makes it worse is that it's 5 verses long and takes ages to complete. Besides the background music in the end sounds like the end of a Tom and Jerry Episode.

Ok...enough of criticism...here's some News from School.

House Boards are to be set-up by Class XII now...*oops*.
Monsoon's the Topic along with Honesty as the theme....[ DEADLINE: 31st JULY ]
Well...I don't know about my house-board but I'm sure implementing Honesty in this post alrite...lol...

CLASSICAL SOLO SONG COMPETITION

Well, there was very little "classical" left in the competition once it actually started...

Friday the 15th was witness to this melodious and not-so melodious battle of 3 singers from each of the four HOUSES.Classes 10 and 12 were allowed to see the competition in the Green Shed.Judges were Principal, Music Sir and a nonplussed Primary Section Hindi Teacher.Quite a handful of musically and foolishly unaware people to do the needful....

The "Classical" comptetition had beautiful renditions of Veerz-Zaara, soulful version of pop Songs by Indian Idols and POPstars, few devotional and even fewer true classical music. However, choice of song was clearly not the criteria of judgement.

Certain House members had acquired permission from Principal to not use the microphone. However, the most deserving of competitors were not awarded. Why? Because the so-called judges and the host, Mrs. Mona Chhikara felt that "mike me bina impact nahi aaya..nahi to tum log hee jeet jaate!".Long live NCS and may longer live its microphone and surround-sound systems!

Moreover, there is solid proof that the joint 3rd place was actually NOT A TIE.Trata's singer was a point behind, but as usual manipulation thy name is NCS and announcement of results had quite a few gasps from the audience.

At the end of the day, those who won were happy...the pop-songs which they'd practised for only a day and sung with all sur going awry had made them WINNERS.And the ones who didn't win were happier...because their week-long practise, hard work and true spirit had made them more than just WINNERS......they had become ICONS in the true sense.

In life you win some and and you lose some...but what is more important is how you win or lose.

3 AWAY, 1 NEW AND THE HUNT BEGINS......

Teachers keep going and coming. Some leave a mark, some....well....just don't.Post-holiday season has seen some shuffling in the teaching STAFF.

Our very own contributor and Counsellor, Ruchi Ma'am, is leaving for Southern Illinois, USA for further education.I think she can be credited as one of the few teachers who managed to actually be a "friend" to everyone in school. We'll miss you, Ma'am!

Second on the way out is Senior School Co-ordinator and Maths Teacher, Mrs. Viji. She was synonymous with Class XII Maths and we all will miss her unqiue style of teaching.

And third to go, is Class XII/ XI Biology teacher, Mrs. Tanushree. Her absence for the last week generated quite some curiosity and eventually the news was disclosed to us. [**Psst...Demo-classes and interviews of TWO new applicants for the same post are going to be held tomorrow....already!!!**]

The new entry is the Math teacher's repalcement, Mrs. Vanaja.Except for her silent accompanying of Viji Ma'am, we haven't had much interaction with her.Just hope she can fill up the vacancy and also fulfill expectations....

Meanwhile, the "HUNT" has begun.....yes, the PREFECT COUNCIL-2005-06.Shortlisted students have already started to be called for pre-interview meetings.Everyone has their favourites...so DO COMMENT as to who you think should become what?!!?!.Within a week or so, you'll know the results.

Coming SOON: A LIST OF CANDIDATES NOMINATED FOR THE PREFECT COUNCIL ....You get to support your candidate!
