IIT's Reality : Face it - Only One Out of almost 80 !!!!

Why does this post about the Indian Institute of Technology qualify to be on the school blog? Because 80-90% of you reading this are aspiring to be an esteemed "IIT-ian" and also because 2005 and 2006 has seen two of our school mates get into one of the 7 campuses of this world renowned institution....

But my point is different.I want to emphasise on the perfunctory manner in which most of us decide to join IIT.And sometimes the prime reason is Parental compulsion.I do not blame them- they want the best in the world for all us.
Secondly, is the lure of the 'name and fame'.Many don't even know which COURSE in engineering they want to pursue (just getting into IIT is good enough) or where IITs are, what IITs provide the courses of their desire etc. It has become a hearsay fad - for students and parents alike.

Thirdly, are the job prospects."IIT main jayegaa to life ban jayegii....".Sounds familiar?Undoubtedly, the campus interviews, mulitnatioanl placements and worldwide arena of job opportunites open for an IIT-ian. And apart from the numerous other reasons most of us want to join IIT, is the mob-following instinct.Just because one person goes for IIT Classes or takes a particular correspondence...whoa! The entire batch follows suit.

Out of all the mentioned ideas, I personally do not hold even worthy of actually being good enough to secure you a place into IIT.I value only reason - the will to dream and to work for your dream. If you want to get into IIT for no other reaosn, but purely for its quality of education and your desire to achieve the best knowledge without greed of money, fame, job placement, parental praise etc. then I respect you and you must be proud of yourself. For any other reason, I think you need to read on......

In 2005 alone, out of almost 80 people from NCS who tried for IIT, only 3 managed to pass the arduous Screening. And only one Kshitij Garg has managed to get through the IIT mains.Last year too, only Akash Aggarwal got into IIT, Delhi.Yes, we are all inspired by their success stories..But we side-look the other 79 who slogged and attended tiresome coaching classes for two years. The amount of monetary, physical and mental investment is enormousAnd then, we tend to put our CBSE exams at stake. The result is before you - - only 1 out of so many gets through, and others have to satisfy with other colleges and a mediocre Class XIIth result...

I don't say that one must stop trying. But more importantly, start thinking, PRACTICALLY.Gauge your own capacity. Is it worth studying for two years when you are not interested.Take a moment, sit back and ponder...is it in you to make it ?

If your answer is YES...then you must be ready to strive for it. If it is a NO or a MAYBE...think again. You still have time.If you don't try to get what you LIKE, you'll have to end up liking what you GET.The choice is yours...IIT is a goal, it isn't the end of life!

What's up in School now?

Our school is under serious renovation.
Don't believe me?? Have a look below:

Class XII has it's extra classes for maths...and the green shed is the only place which can accomodate 2 classes of 12th.

Well, since our Math Teacher is leaving school, I really wanted to take a picture of her teaching...but couldn't succeed due to bad light offered by the "GREEN SHED" above us while she was teaching.
Inspite of such dificulties, here's what we got:

I'll get a better picture before she leaves...with permission...coming soon...

NAVIKA....IT'S HERE!

After much anticipation and trepidation, I am glad to publicly delcare that the 2005-06 issue of the School Magazine, NAVIKA, has finally been printed.I was intimidated by Ruchi Ma'am who was in turn informed by Girija Ma'am [Editor, School Magazine].
The magazine should be in your hands when school officialy reopens on the 28th of June.Though we have put in our sweat and blood in trying to make it a totally different magazine, compulsions as usual have been there. What you might read, may not exactly what was aimed at.However, several changes are brought about during the review process.
Yet, all said and done, we sincerely hope that our efforts pay off and all of you enjoy the Magazine.

Back to School in mid-June

Going to school today was a lot different than the other days I attended for extra-classes.
I hadn't seen much of school lately and I could notice some construction work in certain corners of the school....which is good in a way.
Classes XII-A and B were in a deploring state probably because the school got prority for construction and our classes got ignored. They'll be taken care of once the rest is done.

I didn't see much of my friends either. Especially the one's who live outside NOFRA.
Each one of them seemed so different...many have changed...
And i guess the reason is known to all...
Class XII...Studies...
All of a sudden I felt as if I started off here today back from where I left off on the last day when the school closed.

Start Studying SANCHIT !!! I say that to myself everyday but end up using the Books as pillows...trust me their comfortable...lol...but it's not the right time to sleep is it???

greetings from a land far far from NCS!

Feels good to know that NCS blog was still active inspite of the summer break....oops I forgot...from the blog team if I am not mistaken ain't I the only one who is actually on vacation? (gloat gloat gloat!)

Ah well...tough luck on the WNC matches....u win some, u lose some and life goes on!Just wanted to point out that C'est la vie people! As terrible as that may sound such experiences are only a peep into the real world. The point is that dont let them bog u down! yea yea i know it may be easy for me to say considering I did not play and all,but tell u what life in the big bad world is ONE BIG KOHLI stadium teeming with late latif umpires and score keepers with their own preferences! As Shakespeare said at the end of the day- To thine ownself be true!

On that attempt -at- being- didactic-note.....I shall go back to my summer routine of eat, drink, read, sleeeeep.

By the way....Anyone interested in tigers?buzz me! have just landed from the land of Kipling's Jungle book....if u know where that is,only then do u qualify to be regaled by me.

Until Later!

Shalom!
